Community Benefits Agreement 101 Webinar

June 24, 2022 from 3:30 pm5:00 pm EDT

You are invited to a “Community Benefits Agreements (CBA) 101” webinar hosted by the Department of Energy’s (DOE) Office of the Secretary in collaboration with the Office of Economic Impact and Diversity. The goal of the webinar is to familiarize all participants with CBAs, especially considering the recently passed Bipartisan Infrastructure Law (BIL) which provided significant new funds to the DOE to address some of the country’s most pressing energy sustainability, resilience, and equity challenges.

The DOE is deeply committed to ensuring that BIL projects create real community benefits including high-quality jobs with the free and fair chance to join a union; training strategies to attract, train, and retain a skilled workforce; diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility in all phases of the project; and incorporation of the administration’s Justice40 commitments. DOE will be requesting BIL funding applicants to create community benefits plans to realize these goals, and ultimately to use more formal negotiated structures including CBAs, Community Workforce Agreements, Project Labor Agreements, and/or other vehicles.

Community Benefits Agreements have been negotiated by communities, tribes, labor unions, and companies across the U.S. and Canada, and we are excited to share just a few diverse examples on this webinar. We look forward to continuing the conversation with additional workshops and events over the coming months.

When you register, please also submit any questions and comments that can help us enrich the webinar – we look forward to your input.
