Overview
The Manufacture of Advanced Key Energy Infrastructure Technologies (MAKE IT) Prize aims to catalyze domestic manufacturing of critical clean energy technology components, moving manufacturing facilities from planning to shovel-ready and enabling strategies for vibrant manufacturing activities in communities. This prize has a prize pool of approximately $30 million spread across two tracks—the Facilities Track and the Strategies Track.
The Strategies Track aims to help build interest and engagement around manufacturing clean energy technologies and expand the potential for more clean energy jobs and economic opportunity. In this track, competitors will develop a roadmap to promote clean energy manufacturing activity in their region and provide a statement of interest from an entity interested in establishing a facility in their region.
This track includes three phases.
- Phase 1: Competitors submit a team or list of partners that is representative of all relevant stakeholders in the region, an engagement plan, and potential elements for a roadmap to regional clean energy manufacturing.
- Phase 2: Phase 1 winners submit an outline of their roadmap to regional clean energy manufacturing and associated pitch deck, as well as a list of the entities with whom they intend to discuss their roadmap.
- Phase 3: Phase 2 winners submit the final roadmap and pitch deck and demonstrate interest from at least one private entity for the construction of a clean energy manufacturing facility.
The official rules document will be posted following the launch of the prize in summer of 2023 and will contain the complete application process and instructions for competing.
