- U.S. Department of the Interior Announces $135 Million to Help Create Jobs and Revitalize Land in Coal Communities
The Abandoned Mine Land Economic Revitalization grants fund projects that return legacy coal mining sites to productive uses through economic and community development. - U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Makes Available $3.2 Million in Community Economic Development (CED) Focus on Energy Communities Grants
The program, funded through the Administration for Children and Families, will support projects in communities that have experienced employment loss and/or economic dislocation events as a result of declines in the fossil fuel industry.

Illinois Basin Rapid Response Team Workshop
Last week, federal agency officials from the Energy Communities IWG’s Illinois Basin Rapid Response Team (RRT) hosted a workshop in Marion, Illinois to connect energy community leaders with relevant state and federal resources and funding opportunities.
Community leaders learned how to create accounts to apply for grants and best practices for managing grants during and after the application process.
