Overview
The Underground Injection Control Grants fund federal, state, and Tribal government agencies that oversee underground injection activities to prevent contamination of underground sources of drinking water from fluid injection practices. The funding in Bipartisan Infrastructure Law targets funding to Class VI wells utilized for carbon sequestration. The law includes an additional $25 million to support the permitting of these wells on top of the $50 million in grant funding. Eligible entities shall use grants to defray the expenses related to the establishment and operation of a Class VI primacy program.
